What is maca?
The maca plant belongs to the cruciferous family and has been cultivated in the Peruvian Andes for around 2000 years. In Peru, the maca root is used as a valuable food plant. The root can be found in different colors: The color ranges from black to purple to yellow. The reason for the color variation is the quantity and combination of secondary plant substances in the root. We use yellow maca roots in our capsules, which are preferred for their taste.
Maca has a high nutrient density. The root contains many important minerals, vitamins, fiber and phytochemicals. The protein content of the dried tuber is particularly high (up to 16% protein). Maca is also characterized by its high proportion of essential amino acids. The nutritional values of the dried maca tuber are comparable to those of rice, corn and wheat.
How should you take maca?
According to various studies on the optimal dosage of maca, 3-8 g of powder should be taken daily. Our Maca capsules therefore have a daily portion of 8 g of pure Maca powder. It is important that it is taken daily over a longer period of time.
Are there any risks when taking Maca?
Maca is safe and well tolerated. However, side effects such as diarrhea and headaches can occur at very high doses. You should therefore always adhere to the recommended dosage.
